Privacy Policy

Cop&Haul is run by Vivek Bhupatiraju ("we"). This policy explains what we collect when you use Cop&Haul, why, who sees it, and the choices you have. We don't sell your personal information and we don't show ads.

Some features described here may not be available to you yet; this policy covers them as they roll out.

What we collect

• Account details: your email, password (stored only as a secure hash), birthday, and the access code or invite you joined with.
• Profile: display name, username, bio, profile photo, and whether your profile is Public or Friends only.
• What you post: items and hauls (brand, product, colour, price, where you bought it, your note, shop link), items on your wishlist, photos you upload of your items, comments (including products you suggest in them), hearts, and anything you mark as Just me.
• Your connections: friends, friend requests, the people and brands you follow, and anyone you mute, block or report.
• Links and screenshots you add: when you paste a product link we read that shop page to fill in the details. When you add from a screenshot of an order confirmation, we send the image to our AI provider to read the line items; we don't keep the image.
• Searches: what you type into search, used to show results. Searches aren't saved to your profile or shown to anyone.
• Settings: your notification choices, time zone and quiet hours.
• Waitlist: your email, if you join the waitlist.
• Technical information: sign-in cookies that keep you logged in, and basic logs (such as IP address, browser and pages requested) used to run and secure the service. If something breaks, an error report (what went wrong, your browser and the page) helps us fix it. If we use product analytics, it records how features are used, without the text you type.

How we use it

• To run Cop&Haul: your profile, feed, wishlist, friends, comments, hearts, search and notifications. For example, if someone commented on an item on your wishlist, they can be told when you cop it.
• To check you're old enough to join. Your birthday is never shown on your profile; it's also used for age-group trends, which only appear when enough people are counted.
• To show trends such as top items and rising brands, built from many people's activity.
• To keep people safe: reviewing reports, stopping spam and abuse, and enforcing our Terms.
• To email you about your account (for example, confirming your email) and, if you joined the waitlist, your access code.
• To fix problems and improve Cop&Haul.

Who can see what

• Public profile: anyone, including people who aren't signed in, can see your profile and cops.
• Friends only: only your friends see your cops. Others see your name, username and photo.
• Just me posts are only visible to you. Comments can only be seen by friends of the person who posted.
• Your wishlist and any photos you upload follow the same rules as the item they belong to. Photos are stored privately and only shown to people who can see that item.
• Blocked people can't see your posts or find you.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only with companies that help us run Cop&Haul, under contracts that limit how they can use it:

• Supabase (database, sign-in and file storage) and Vercel (hosting).
• Anthropic (reading order-confirmation screenshots and product pages).
• Our email provider (account and waitlist emails), and, if used, our analytics provider (PostHog) and error-monitoring provider (Sentry).

We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect people's safety, or as part of a merger or sale of the business (in which case this policy keeps applying).

How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account exists. When you delete your account, your profile and everything you posted are deleted. Brands and products you added to the shared catalog stay, without your name. Backups and logs are deleted on a rolling schedule.

Your choices and rights

• Change your profile and who can see it at any time on your profile.
• Post as Just me, delete posts, photos and comments, and mute or block people.
• Choose which notifications you get, and set quiet hours, where those settings are available.
• Delete your account in Edit profile → Delete account.
• Ask us for a copy of your information, or to correct or delete it, by emailing hello@copandhaul.com. Depending on where you live (for example California or the EU/UK), you may have further rights; we honor them and won't treat you differently for using them.

Age

Cop&Haul is for adults 18 and older, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone younger. If you believe someone under 18 has an account, email us and we'll delete it.

Security

We use encryption in transit, hashed passwords, and database rules that limit each person to what they're allowed to see. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password you don't use elsewhere.
